About our Patent Pending Ripcord Tether System...

Tips for using the

Ripcord Bowtether:

We now offer a new universal mount Ripcord Tether kit, the ButtBucket.  This kit comes with our new improved Ripcord, and can mount to any of our packs, to carry either a bow or a gun.

Click here for instructions on its use.

Look below for general information on the Ripcord as standard equipment on packs that are equipped with it.

The Ripcord is a simple device, and works very well with a variety of bows if used properly.  If you have questions about how best to use the Ripcord, we offer a few ideas.  One of the challenges in carrying a bow is that they're all a little different.  But we've had good success with a variety of bows, from flat to more vertical limb designs.  Note in the photos above that the cam is offset to one side.  The bow is held very securely this way, and with the cam off to the side it's easier to reach.

The first thing that we'd like to point out is that there is more than one way to do this.  You'll also find that the packs work best if there's something in them to pull the Ripcord tight against.  If you're using an X1, we recommend putting enough of your gear in the upper chamber of the main compartment that it's fairly well stuffed.  The way that the Slingshot works will vary depending upon how much you carry in the lower part of the pack.  If you're carrying quite a bit, you might want to put some items in the top roll-out bag in order to provide more spacing for your bow.  If your quiver is on your bow, your rig may carry best with the fletching up or with the fletching down.  You'll also find that the tether can be mounted on either shoulder strap, and you'll want to set it up so that it doesn't snag on your sights.  Try it a few ways until you get it the way that you like it.

RIGHT

<- the right way

wrong way ->

The difference between these two photos is just a result of the direction that the strap is run around the bow.

The trick is to put the limb of the bow on the opposite side of the D-ring from the shoulder strap that the Ripcord is coming from.  Then go around it and come back to the red buckle.  (If you have the bow on the same side as the strap, as on the right, it can fall away).

WRONG

By taking the Ripcord around the bow from the left side, and bringing it back to the red buckle, you push the main body of the bow to the center of the pack, and it holds securely.  If you do it the other way, as at the right, the bow can flop to the outside.

You can also carry your bow with the fletching up.  This will change the way that the Ripcord wraps around the limb of the bow, and may de-conflict it from your sights.  It's an option you might want to try.

Another view of the Ripcord.  With the top chamber of the X1 full, you can pull the Ripcord strap pretty tight and the bow is held securely.

Note the way that the cam has been placed into the opening that's in the bottom of the pack.  This helps to stabilize the bow.
